This is test 1 of trying to find the best social media image size, a single image that will work for social sharing images on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
The minimum width for a Facebook image to share is 600 pixels, I’ll use that as my starting width.
The maximum length for Pinterest then is 1680, but I’m not going to go that long. In the past, I’ve used Pinterest images that are 735 x 1102 which is what Canva recommends, but I’ve decided I like the images a little longer than that. Looking at it further, that’s the 2:3 aspect ratio that this article on Buffer Social recommends. Between that and Canva making it easy to make an image that size, lots of the images on Pinterest are now the same size! But given that Pinterest has reduced the length of images that show in the past, I don’t want to go too long.
I’m going to try out a 1:2 ratio, 735 x 1470 pixels. To save on image size, I’m going to start with the minimum width for Facebook, and use an image 600 x 1200 pixels.
My WordPress Genesis Theme, Foodie Pro, says optimal image size is 680 pixels wide. I might have to adjust upward, but I’ll start with 600 pixels.
