It’s a real hassle – and when you’re buying images, more expensive – to size blog post images different ways for different social media platforms. In this post series, I’ll look at creating a universal image size for Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
Optimal Image Sizes on Social Media
- Facebook image size – 1200 x 630 pixels, a minimum of 600 x 315 pixels
- Twitter image size – 440 x 220, as best I can find. But on my first tests, it looks like Twitter is now using a square image.
- Pinterest image size – aspect ration, no bigger than 1:2.8
Twitter (giving you only file size) and Pinterest fail to recommend a size in pixels.
Facebook images and Twitter images are generally long, or landscape orientation, while Pinterest images are tall, or portrait orientation.
I’m going to experiment with some different lengths, design elements, and proportions to see how images are cropped and what might be best for one image to share across all three platforms. Look at later posts to see how the images test.
