Looking for something to do during quarantine? How about a great documentary! The Covid-19 pandemic has delayed the trial of Elizabeth Holmes, so shelter in place is a great time to catch yourself up on the story of Theranos. If you have read Bad Blood, I’m sure you want to know more! Shelter in place can bring good things – you can get more information by watching The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley for free during April on HBO.
Last year, my book club read Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou. (You can read a review of Bad Blood and get discussion questions and other ideas for hosting a books club in my post, It was fascinating, disappointing, entertaining, and a wake up call! Now more than ever, with the novel coronavirus pandemic, Covid-14, and the over-run of our emergency rooms and hospitals, and the problems with lab tests for Covid, it’s been shown how integrity in scientific research is important, to say the least.
So I take notice when I see news about Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes in the news.
If you have any free time during shelter in place or quarantine, I hope you’re getting a chance to do some fun family activities, like watching some rom-coms with your daughter or mother. But sometimes it’s fun to watch a documentary and feel productive! I say feel productive, but increasing your knowledge about what’s going on in the world is definitely worth your time.
If you’re like me, after you read a book like Bad Blood, you want to know more. I list lots of on-line resources on my review and book club post about Bad Blood.
But there’s more!
Quarantine has brought a new one our way that you can watch for FREE. For the month of April, the Emmy Nominee The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, along with some other selections, is available to stream for free from HBO! No subscription necessary.
If you miss it, you can still watch The Inventor by getting it from Amazon.
